Database deadlocking

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this, but I wasn't sure which one to post in. Anyways, I just recently installed BOBI 4.0 SP4(w/FP3) with SQL Server 2008 R2 (remote database), but havent upgraded yet. The database is empty, but our DBA is noticing continuous requests being sent to the database; particularly to the "dbo.CMS_LOCKS7" table. Our DBA has had 662 deadlock aerts over the past two days. Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this or if this is normal until we upgrade? Any help will be greatly appreciated as I do not where to start . Thanks.
