no problem.

 

also, if you ever want to filter your report so that it only includes dates in a certain range, i.e. get rid of all of the extra transaction dates that you don't want on the report, then here's how.

 

1) in the Field Explorer of crystal, right click on the words "Parameter Fields" and choose New

 

2) change your parameter so that it is a Date type and allows Range values like this...

3) then go to the Report menu > Selection Filters > Record and then enter in syntax like this

 

{gl_detail1.transaction_date}in {?transactiondate}

 

now your report will only contain records where the transaction date is within the range that the end user chooses. then you don't need to create conditional formulas everywhere on your report...you would just put the credit field in the details section, right click on the field and choose Insert > Summary and then you've got the total without having to create a conditional formula.
